After mentioning my MBA aspirations to a friend it came to light that he knew someone with an EMBA. A friend of the family had taken the Part-Time Queen's EMBA through distance education and offered to put me in touch with this individual. I jumped at the opportunity.
Queen's EMBA
After a couple of e-mails we settled on a telephone conversation during the afternoon. He had used his EMBA to switch industries. Previously he had been working with a pharmaceutical company in a non-management role. After the EMBA he found work marketing a network of ski-resorts in the Canadian Rockies.
He had done the EMBA part-time and it was tough. He had a wife and two young children while working full-time and doing an EMBA. Thrusday evenings were crammed with last minute team work. Friday and Saturday they would video conference with a professor at Queen's. Sunday was more work. Tuesdays the team would meet again to review the latest assignment. That brings us full circle. Now repeat.
Every night of the week he was busy with the program.
This went on for 12 months.
Then he had to travel to Kingston and live there for 3 months to study full-time to finish off the degree.
I don't know if I would pick this option unless I really had to.
